On April 24 the Hubble Space Telescope turns 26 years in space since Discovery put it into orbit in 1990. And like every birthday, the Hubble devotes part of his time to observe and to capture a beautiful image that. He gave us a gift. But to give a gift to get to Hubble would be complicated, and very expensive . The picture is of Nebula NGC 7635 , also known as the Bubble Nebula. It is located towards the constellation of Cassiopeia at 8,000 light years and was discovered in 1787 by William Herschel. Awesome!
For 26 years it has been peering into deep space and this image was released today to celebrate its birthday.
Taken earlier this year the picture captures the chaotic activity atop a three-light-year-tall pillar of gas and dust that is being eaten away by the brilliant light from nearby bright stars.
